Chester Bennington Picks Best Festival: Summer Sonic!

"The problem with U.S. festivals is that they have mostly American and British groups, so you're not getting a real glimpse of what's out there. But at Summer Sonic in Japan, they have a bunch of international acts, all playing at this outdoor stadium that's broken up into indoor arenas of different sizes."

Mike and Chester to be in new Busta video

Not only is multi-platinum two-time Grammy-winning rock band Linkin Park featured on
the first single from acclaimed hip-hop innovator Busta Rhymes' new album,
but the band 's co-lead vocalists Chester Bennington and Mike Shinoda will
also appear in the song's performance video. "We Made It," directed by
Chris Robinson, will be shot in Los Angeles on Tuesday, April 15.

The intriguing culture-mashing collaboration reflects the theme of "We
Made It." Says Rhymes of the song: "It ain't just about the 'hood, it ain't
just about the suburbs, it's about everybody. This is one of those songs
that can't be described better than touching the souls of the common
people."

"We Made It," produced by Cool and Dre, with additional production by
Mike Shinoda, and its video will be released in May, prior to the debut of
Rhymes' eighth studio album, Blessed (Flipmode/Aftermath/Interscope), on
June 17.

Linkin Park's commitee of One

Linkin Park is very organized as a band, so much so that they’ve assigned committees within the group to deal with certain situations. For instance, singer Chester Bennington and Rob Bourdon are part of the touring committee that put together the Projekt Revolution lineup. When asked about Mike Shinoda’s responsibility, Chester Bennington joked that he was the sole member of the laser and pyro committee. Shinoda says it’s not a committee, but more of a club where they have get-togethers with buffets of food from various countries, but since he’s the only person in the club, he not only gets the food, but eats it. However, Shinoda says people are more than welcome to come to his laser and pyro club if they want. The two LP rockers laugh that they are hoping to incorporate laser beams in their show, but are worried about possibly disintegrating audience members.

Projekt Revolution is not done with rap

A lack of rap for a second straight year on the Projekt Revolution tour is circumstantial, according to Linkin Park's Mike Shinoda.

During a teleconference with reporters today (April 9), Shinoda said that in booking this year's tour, Linkin Park "didn't find the right rap groups to put on the show. There weren't many that we felt would mix well with everything. For this one, it's pretty much an all-rock bill ... but this is a really diverse bill as far as rock."

Shinoda said that rap is "not gone forever" from Projekt Revolution, and that "in the future we'll have more hip-hop artists back on the bill."

Besides headliner Linkin Park, this year's Projekt Revolution -- which kicks off a North American run July 16 in Boston after a one-off on June 29 in England -- features Chris Cornell, the Bravery, Ashes Divide and Armor For Sleep on the main stage and Atreyu, Hawthorne Heights, 10 Years and Street Drum Corps on the second, Revolution Stage.

Shinoda said there was interest in major hip-hop acts such as Kanye West, Lupe Fiasco and Gnarls Barkley but that "these groups were out on the road doing their own thing ... with other commitments going. I think if there had been a place for these guys to be on the tour, it would've worked out."

The British show, meanwhile, features Jay-Z and N*E*R*D.
